Karen and John - an Autumn Wedding at Drew University

Karen and John came to me from a referral - another great couple, Camillia and Tony, whose wedding I had photographed on a bright and sunny day in Atlantic City a few years ago.  When I first met with Karen and John, they started describing their wedding venue, Drew University, to me and I’ll be honest - I couldn’t wait to go!  Classic architecture, tree lined pathways, autumn colors - OK, so far checking off every box on my list!

Drew University, where Karen and John met, is located in Madison, New Jersey, so I headed up early to allow for any traffic.  This worked out perfectly for me, since arriving early gave me a chance to scout out a few favorite spots.  Karen and John had given themselves plenty of time for photos, so we were able to take a nice walk around campus and use these gorgeous spots before their guests started to arrive.  Even better yet - I packed along my Hasselblad and few rolls of Fuji 400 especially for this outdoor session.  Wow, am I glad I did, because these film photos are stunning!  All of the square photos you’ll see here are film photographs from the Hasselblad.

This was a beautifully intimate wedding.  No wedding attendants, and just the closest of friends and family.  This is my favorite kind of wedding (besides the bright outdoor settings!) to photograph, because it gives both myself and the couple time to spend with EVERYONE at their wedding.  I know they had the chance to visit with each and every person there, and I know I was able to get everyone in a photo somewhere.  Here’s to more bright, airy, elegant, and intimate weddings in the future!
